Cemetery Mausoleum

Cemetery mausoleums are beautiful monuments to the deceased that provide economy of space, and attest that therein are laid those who were deeply loved and are greatly missed. A cemetery mausoleum stands above ground, noticed and admired for its artwork and fine architecture. An admirer may not even realize they are studying a mausoleum cemetery, but simply a marvelous structure built in stone.

A mausoleum cemetery can be constructed as a vestibule or sarcophagus. Cemetery mausoleums can inter one or multiple deceased individuals. They can hold both caskets and cremation urns. Usually there are niches for either or both along the walls or even in a lower level, possibly underground. Mausoleum cemeteries keep the remains clean and dry, out of the weather where they may rest in peace, undisturbed.

Vestibule Cemetery Mausoleums

The vestibule type of cemetery mausoleum has a doorway for visitors to enter and allows the deceased to be carried inside. Sometimes the vestibule has a small chapel to allow visitors to pray when they visit. This can enhance the appeal of vestibule cemetery mausoleums as family feels the closeness of God to beloved family members.

Sarcophagus types of cemetery mausoleums are closed and have no doorway. These are monumental mausoleums meant to be appreciated from the outside alone. The deceased interred in sarcophagi are permanently protected from weather and possible unwanted interference. When few more will be laid to rest and the cemetery mausoleum is built far away from caregivers and security monitors, it is beneficial to design the mausoleum cemetery without doors and windows, but rather entirely thick stone all around. Additions of future loved ones into the sarcophagus are accomplished by temporarily removing the roof or one exterior wall.

Regardless of the kind of cemetery mausoleum selected for construction, either on private land or on the grounds of a cemetery, they are excellent monuments to the love and appreciation the deceased engendered. They can hold more members than cemetery plots on the same square footage of area and are both beautiful and enduring statements that the survivors wish the world to share their love and loss.
